INNOTRANS 2016, ITALCERTIFER PRESENTS MoU WITH AUSTRALASIAN CENTER OF RAIL INNOVATION FOR SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE AUSTRALIAN RAILWAY SYSTEM

Berlin, 21/09/2016

Italcertifer SpA, part of the Group of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and ACRI,  - the Australasian Centre for Rail Innovation - signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to begin cooperation in the Guided Transport sector and to develop technical cooperation activities in the railway and metros area to promote safety, efficiency and sustainability.
The agreement provides a framework for both parties to exchange information through expert meetings, seminars and technical visits, facilitate staff training and implement jointly agreed cooperation projects.  It focuses on important areas such as railway safety, passenger and freight lines, metros, maintenance and diagnostics, and training and competency development in advanced signalling and train control systems.
Talking about the MoU, Italcertifer’s CEO and President Eng. Carlo Carganico and ACRI’s CEO Vicki Brown said, “collaboration under this agreement will play a key role in developing innovative solutions to increase the productivity and competitive position of the rail industry”
Austrade, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, helped facilitate this outcome by recognising Italcertifer’s interest in identifying a research partner in Australia as part of its broader strategy and introducing them to ACRI, a leading Australian innovation centre focused on developing solutions for the rail sector.
The agreement, which was signed by the CEOs of Intalcertifer and ACRI on 15 September, has been presented during the InnoTrans Fair Global 2016 and will run for an initial three years with an option to extend for a further two years.
